HELLO DARKNESS MY OLD FRIEND

To be honest not the best photograph ever but it was a combination of things that made me choose it. The photo and caption is from a Daily Telegraph travel article published 4.2.2017. I enjoy dark and night and stars. Sheer magic.

The article begins: " Nigel Richardson marvels at the mystery of the Milky Wayin Britain's newest Dark SkyReserve on the South Downs.

"Darkness on the South Downs. Owls hoot... But just how dark is it? To find out, Dan Oakley points a 'sky quality meter'at the stars. This, he explains, measures sky brightnessin 'magnitudes per square arcsecond'. The read out clicks beyond 20 - which apparently is good."

MAJOR NEW ABSTRACT ARTIST DISCOVERED

You know the excitement when Pablo Picasso's  talents where discovered for the first time. The ecstacy of seeing Andy Warhol's can of soup for the first time. The amazement of seeing a Michealangelo painting. The brillance that exuded from a Van Gough. The exquisiteness of a Leonardo da Vinci  The beauty of a Monet. The appeal of a Rembrandt. And do you remember the unbearable excitement of seeing Tracey Enmin's unmade bed. Today this website is bringing you one of those once in a lifetime moments that captures the launch of an artist extraordainaire. The artist is Freya Reed and her first major piece of work. shown above,  "A Picture Specially for Grandad". Already this piece of art is priceless.

You saw it here first.

When I was a lad at school around 13 years old, our Maths teacher used to call me Wol. At the end of the year as we were moving up a class I plucked up courage to ask why he called me Wol. He told meit was thename of the deslexic owl in Winnie the Pooh. With my Harry Potter glasses he said I looked like the Wise Old Owl in the Winnie the Pooh stories.

Being the vain person I am I took it as a compliment
