Road Dahl was born 13 September 1916, so we celebrate his birthday this week and that is also Roald Dahl Day. Our Book at Bedtime list is devoted to Roald Dahl books. Not just one list but two.

A book for bedtime story is ideally a picture book of 32 Pages or an ordinary book of short chapters to read one or two chapters a night and completing the book probably over a week.

Roald Dahl books tend to be for the slightly older child in the 7 – 11 years old group. The first book listed is a picture book, the rest are a little longer. The second list are novels suitable for older children.

You may find some short versions of Dahl books in early reader series.

Whatever, Roald Dahl is probably the best story teller in the world ever.

When I was a lad at school around 13 years old, our Maths teacher used to call me Wol. At the end of the year as we were moving up a class I plucked up courage to ask why he called me Wol. He told meit was thename of the deslexic owl in Winnie the Pooh. With my Harry Potter glasses he said I looked like the Wise Old Owl in the Winnie the Pooh stories.

Being the vain person I am I took it as a compliment
